Back in the glory days, before the last recession, when the world was awash with cash and boat shows were held at Earls Court, I first came across Boatshed holding one of their famous Fizz at Five sessions. Their stand was near my Canal Experience Training stand and at the end of a hard day exhibiting, a glass of Fizz (in a plastic glass) was very welcome.

As probably a lot of men, Henrik has an interest for both cars, boats and planes, although his interest and devotion changes from time to time. When we had crossed the Atlantic, Henrik was so tired of sailing that he asked me, if we should leave the boat in the Caribbean and fly through Africa instead. At that point I was firm, though. After 31 days on the Atlantic I wanted to be rewarded with white beaches and palm trees: We are sailing!

With the weather getting a little colder across Europe, a lovely warming dish to enjoy for a snack or a side on a cold day is Cauliflower cheese - a hit with all ages. The key to a great dish is fresh cauliflower, decent cheese and smoked bacon lardons (optional). My twist is adding a touch of cayenne pepper in to give it a little spice.
One of the pleasures of my new life as a yacht broker is the people I get to meet. From millionaires to seagoing paupers all have interesting life stories to share. The most inspiring and intriguing character so far has been Bruno.

Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a Romilly. Designed by Nigel Irens the Romilly was a smaller derivative of the larger Roxanne. As a day boat with occasional overnight stops the Romilly provides superb performance in a design that can be launched and recovered from a trailer. Romilly has a high ballast ratio, the GRP version uses the same cast iron centre board as Roxanne. She has a very fine hull form and a relatively large sail area making for a fast vessel. The original version has a loose footed main on a carbon fibre mast. This Romilly is well presented with recent new covers and is ready for the season ahead. Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
Jane Robinson has just taken over Boatshed Torquay. She lives in Dartmouth and so has arranged to share an office with Paul Singer at Boatshed Dartmouth. Cats have been found aboard ships since early times, accompanying explorers, merchants and navies. Popular for rodent control, the cat would get the rat before the rats and mice could eat the crew’s food supply or any edible cargo. They also offered companionship to the crew when away on long voyages and many were seen as a lucky mascot.
